Stockholm, Sweden

Inspired by New York’s Little Italy and set within an Italian restaurant in Östermalm, this classic bar forms an entire section of the space, allowing the brouhaha of the dining room to provide a buzzy backdrop to a drinks list centred on the art of aperitvo. As the menu says: “It’s always 5 o’clock somewhere” and this mainstay is the perfect spot to segue into any evening. Surrounded by old black and white photographs, take a perch on the button-back bar stools and let the smartly dressed bartenders whip you up something quaffable. While the classics are given loving attention – see the Camparino Shakerato with orange flower water, or the filthy gin martini – the signature apertifs steal the show in the form of a Tangled NY Sour with hazelnut and Rock ‘n’ Rye, a take on an Old Fashioned with candy syrup. A solid Italian wine list rounds things off.
