Havana Social

Bangkok, Thailand

Step into a phone booth in a Bangkok back alley through a hidden door, and enter pre-revolution Cuba of the 1940s and 1950s. Havana Social’s interior is deliberately, wonderfully weathered and immensely immersive, with distressed walls bearing off-kilter frames and vintage couches littered around the room. Cigars and Latin music complete the illusion, and the food and drink offerings are perfectly in keeping with the theme. The cocktail list spans pre- and post-revolution eras, with Daiquiris front and centre. There’s a compact selection of tiki cocktails, or you could go with a classic Cuba Libre, made here with rum, bitters, cola and lime. Bar snacks along the lines of empanadas and sandwiches are the perfect accompaniment. Havana Social comes from Bangkok’s Soho Hospitality, behind a number of other restaurants and bars in the city.
