Chill' is the name of the game at the punk rock-esque Meteor in Minneapolis, where cheap beers and high-class cocktails are presented without frills in a low-key space that has been a bar since the early 1900s. Run by Twin Cities industry veteran Robb Jones, it's a real bartenders' bar, and the go-to place for post-shift industry drinks at a reasonable price point. Inside the grungy dive-like joint, located on a slightly sketchy corner near the trendy North Loop neighborhood, the friendly, talented bartenders deliver boilermakers, affordable classics (ubiquitous ones done right, like the daiquiri, gimlet, martini, old fashioned, negroni, and Tom Collins), hot dogs and bar snacks with casual ease. Without an ounce of pretension infused into the programme, it's a must-visit when in Minneapolis.
