Petite León
Minneapolis, US
This is the bistro everybody wishes they had in their neighbourhood. Created by Mexican-born chef Jorge Guzmán and local cocktail king Travis Serbus, Guzmán has since stepped away and Ben Rockwell helms the kitchen. The monochrome space is all lacquered wooden floors and padded leather banquettes, broken up with greenery, mirrors and statement lighting. It's stylish, without feeling sceney. Local produce takes centre stage and the menu is a showcase for keeping things simple and executing them well. You'll find smaller plates, the likes of fry bread with whipped ricotta and seasonal veggies or mushrooms, peas and goat's cheese piled high on crostini. Big plates might include mussels cooked in a caramelised orange and parmesan cream or steak frites, alongside all-American classics like cheeseburgers and platters of oysters. The cocktail list is a playful mix of classics and original creations, backed up with a solid wine list.
