On any given day at Fi’lia you’re likely to find couples toasting anniversaries, friends throwing birthday parties and students celebrating graduation – the light, foliage-filled space is located on the 70th floor of the SLS Dubai Hotel & Residence, which provides panoramic views over the city and a true sense of occasion. The wine list reflects the fact that Fi’lia is the first female-led restaurant in the Middle East, with bottles produced by women winemakers around the world. The Italian-Mediterranean menu is designed to echo recipes passed down through generations of women that have been finessed along the way, from a traditional beef wagyu lasagne to lamb chops with pistachio and polenta. Inside, there’s an Aperol cart, live cooking station and copper pizza ovens, but the best tables are on the terrace where brunch is served on red and white Vichy tablecloths synonymous with rustic Italian picnics.
