Making history: Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants to be held in Guatemala for the first time

The vibrant, historical city of Antigua is set to host the region's most prestigious gastronomic celebrations, marking the debut of the awards ceremony in Central America.

Antigua's colourful cobblestone streets have long been rich in culture and culinary delights. Now, the Guatemalan city cements its burgeoning reputation as a gastronomic destination by becoming the first Central American host destination of Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants, sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna.

On 2 December 2025, the Unesco World Heritage Site will welcome Latin America's very best culinary talent to the awards ceremony, held at Santo Domingo del Cerro. In the heart of Antigua's volcanic landscape, an extensive event programme awaits.

On 1 December, the most compelling voices in Latin American gastronomy will gather to share bold ideas and engage in meaningful dialogue at thought-leadership forum #50BestTalks. This much-anticipated event serves as a stage for the region's culinary pioneers to discuss key issues that unite the community.

50 Best Signature Sessions

Antigua's rich culinary culture, featuring Mayan and Spanish influences, makes the city an ideal destination for dining discovery and an apt location for the 50 Best Signature Sessions series. This section of the event programme will happen during the week of the awards celebration, and involves some of the city's local leading restaurants hosting chefs from Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants list for a series of special collaborations.

The event schedule will culminate in the reveal of the Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants 2025 ranking, as well as a plethora of special awards. At the ceremony, 50 Best will unveil the winners of individual awards including Latin America's Best Female Chef, the Icon Award and the peer-voted Estrella Damm Chefs' Choice Award, among others celebrating extraordinary culinary expertise in the region.

50 Best will also announce several accolades in the coming months, including the Champions of Change Award, which until now has been a mainstay for The World's 50 Best Restaurants and is new for Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants 2025. The award will recognise an unsung hero of the hospitality sector who is driving positive action in their community and creating a blueprint for a better planet. Continuing its mission to champion a diverse range of dining destinations, 50 Best will also reveal the list of restaurants ranked from 51st to 100th ahead of the awards in December.

Local restaurants across the city will host top chefs from across Latin America in a series of one-off events

The list of Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants 2025 will once again be the result of the opinions and experiences of 300 regional restaurant experts who vote confidentially for their 10 favourite restaurant experiences of the last 18 months. With the voting and results independently adjudicated by Deloitte, the ranking has come to represent the most prestigious accolade for the continent's leading hospitality venues.
