The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2020 to be announced on June 2nd in Antwerp

Save the date: The World’s 50 Best Restaurants will be returning on Tuesday 2nd June 2020, when the gastronomic celebration is moving to Flanders, the northern region of Belgium

Since it started its global tour in 2016, the annual gastronomic festival that is The World’s 50 Best Restaurants has left its mark on locations as diverse as New York, Australia, the Basque Country of Spain and Singapore. In 2020, the programme of culinary events will make a new stop in the region of Flanders in Belgium, where the city of Antwerp will play host to the chefs, media and industry VIPs attending the glamourous awards ceremony on Tuesday 2nd June 2020.

Before the revelation of the 19th edition of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, sponsored by S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna, the organisation will also announce a series of special awards celebrating individual talent and outstanding achievements in the culinary world. These will include The World’s Best Female Chef 2020, the American Express Icon Award 2020 and the Miele One To Watch Award 2020, which will be announced in the months leading up to the awards ceremony.

The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2020 event programme will take in a new edition of 50 Best’s thought-leadership series #50BestTalks, an opportunity for the planet’s leading cooks to discuss the latest developments in food and hospitality and share culinary knowledge, as well as the annual Chefs’ Feast, details of which will be announced early next year.

The list of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2020 will be voted by a gender-balanced Academy of 1,040 voters spread all over the world, and the list and results will be independently adjudicated by globally renowned professional services firm Deloitte.

Under the new rules introduced in 2019, MirazurMauro Colagreco’s restaurant in Menton, France, that was voted The World’s Best Restaurant 2019, sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna – will join all previous No.1s in the list in ascending into the Best of the Best group in 2020, and will therefore not be eligible for voting.
