Café Boulud

Toronto, Canada

Wraparound banquettes in green and tan leather, Art Deco light fittings and mid-century furniture create a warm, nostalgic vibe at this all-day spot. While we've got Martin Brudnizki to thank for the design, it's Daniel Boulud who is responsible for the menu. The French chef – whose flagship restaurant Daniel remains an NYC all-time great – looks to family meals from his native Lyon for inspiration. Succulent rotisserie chicken with a morel cream sauce and braised halibut in a roe beurre blanc are a natural companion for comforting sides such as pomme purée and crispy French fries. The warm lemon madeleines are a must. It's the sort of delicious, accessible food you're always in the mood to eat. While the wine list will delight Francophiles, there are also some interesting American whites to explore.
