Crates used as chairs on the pavement outside tell you you’ve found Meat the Fish. This is a casual affair. Seating is communal; ordering and paying is done at the counter. Diners can check out the market-fresh fish displayed on ice before making their selection from the menu: a single printed page stuck on the wall describing daily specials, drinks, sweets and the weather forecast. Expect tasty salads, local meat and seafood and creative sandwiches that some say are Beirut’s best.
