Talat Market
Atlanta, US
Follow your nose in Atlanta’s leafy Summerhill neighbourhood and it will likely bring you down a side street to Talat Market. The lively restaurant, started as a pop-up by chef-owners Parnass Savang and Rod Lassiter, is a go-to for bold Thai dishes made using Georgia’s freshest ingredients. ‘Talat’ means market in Thailand and that’s the idea: to encourage the sense of discovery, culinary exploration and social connection we often find when we’re browsing markets. Book a table inside or beneath the red parasols on the sidewalk; order a pineapple daiquiri or a tropical margarita and prepare to lock forks with your dining companions over the family-style sharing menu. Dishes change daily (keep an eye on Instagram for updates). Crispy rice salad; crab claws in a garlicky spiced butter; chicken green curry; fried shrimp; five-spice tofu stew… it’s flavoursome, fresh (the team even presses its own coconuts) and, above all, fun.
