Crosby Street Hotel

New York, US

The first overseas outpost of UK hotel group Firmdale marries co-founder Kit Kemp’s signature aesthetic with New York’s big-city energy. That means masterful colour clashing and conversation-starting art to create a mood that feels more like a stylish friend’s welcoming townhouse than a hotel. Sited in a quiet, cobblestoned corner of Soho, mere steps from some of New York’s finest shopping and dining, the Crosby gives a nod to its location with loft-style floor-to-ceiling windows and warehouse-inspired street frontage. Kemp’s dab hand with pattern can be seen throughout the 86 individually designed rooms and suites in the textured wallpapers, luxurious curtains and fabric headboards. It’s just the kind of place you can’t wait to return to after a busy day, whether for tea on a plump, fireside sofa in the drawing room or a Manhattan amid the greenery of the residents-only courtyard. The 99-seat screening room hosts regular movie nights and there’s a fully equipped fitness centre – Kempified, of course, with statement floral wallpaper.
