The Greenwich

New York, US

In the 1980’s, Oscar winner Robert De Niro championed the transformation of Manhattan’s TriBeCa into a hub of cuisine and culture. After bringing several restaurants, production companies and a film center to the neighborhood, the actor partnered with BD Hotel’s Ira Drukier and Richard Born to open The Greenwich in 2008. The hotel exudes Hollywood and Tribeca chic. As you enter, smartly uniformed doormen usher guests into a lobby adorned with paintings by De Niro's father. The decor throughout emits an arts and crafts vibe with an antiqued feel. Italian plazas, French parlours, and Japanese palaces all contribute inspiration. Centuries old Tibetan rugs perfectly compliment custom designed leather wingback chairs from Beaumont & Fletcher. Each of the 88 rooms and suites is individually designed but all include coveted Savoir No. 4 beds. Other modern touches include highend audio and screens and even spas in some rooms. The site also features Shibui, a traditional Japanese spa with its own onsen or hot water bath. The Andrew Carmellini helmed Locanda Verde is often buzzing with locals. Fortunately, guests have the option of private service in the Drawing Room & Courtyard or via 24 hour room service.
