For five years, The World’s 50 Best Restaurants has been proud to work with its partner, The Sustainable Restaurant Association, to bring you the Sustainable Restaurant Award. For the first time, this award is now extended to Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants.
The Sustainable Restaurant Award provides restaurants with the chance to demonstrate their environmental and social responsibility. The award is decided on the basis of the SRA’s industry-recognised Food Made Good Sustainability Rating, which assesses restaurants across three main pillars:
Sourcing recognises restaurants celebrating local produce, sourcing fish responsibly, serving more vegetables and better meat and supporting global farmers
Environment recognises restaurants that value natural resources, reduce, reuse and recycle and don’t waste food
Society focuses on restaurants treating staff well, using their influence at the top end of the industry to promote sustainable dining and supporting the community
Only restaurants in Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants who complete the rating are considered for the award. The winner is the restaurant that best demonstrates that it is doing good as well as serving incredible food. The winner is announced on Tuesday 30th October 2018.
