- No.21 Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025
There are myriad reasons why this Buenos Aires favourite often appears in the list of Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants – it's flamboyant, fun and, importantly, the food is unique. The name means 'fat boy' and is inspired by owners Pedro Peña and German Sitz's love of turning things on their head (the pair previously opened La Carnicería, a rebellious Argentine steakhouse). Their playfulness is evident from the moment you step inside the Palermo Soho haunt, with red neon lighting, scarlet lanterns hanging from the ceiling and Asian-style motifs adorning the walls. Maximalism dances across the menu, too, with Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai flavours combined with a large portion of Latin flair. Standouts include katsu sando; cauliflower karaage; and yukhoe, a Korean twist on steak tartare, plus the dumplings and spicy noodles. The best seats in the house are the bar stools; order a Pedro Pera – a sake-soju twist on the martini – and drink in the theatrics.
