Frenchette feels somehow lived-in and new at the same time, a testament to the highly-experienced duo Riad Nasr and Lee Hanson in the kitchen and the buzzing energy of the crowd gathering here each night. Behind the deep blue exterior, the sunshine yellow and cherry red palette, gilded accents and smooth curves of the booths bring a retro feel to the space. A snapshot of the sun-kissed dining room mirrors that of a Dionysian feast. White asparagus, soupe de poisson and icy platters of oysters set the tone for the hors d'oeuvres. Entrées include a glistening roasted chicken, filet au poivre and some of the best pommes frites in town. End dinner with a pistachio Paris-Brest or the Citrus Vacherin, a zesty combination of grapefruit granita, lemon cream and orange sherbert. Traditional French fare right at home in modern-day Manhattan.
