One White Street

New York, US

One White Street is what happens when a true master of his craft, Eleven Madison Park alum, chef Austin Johnson (also of Frenchie, Paris fame), creates a hybrid neighbourhood restaurant founded on the bedrock of farm-to-table eating. Set within a sleek 19th-century Tribeca townhouse – incidentally, the place where John Lennon and Yoko Ono often stayed (in their fictional land without borders, Nutopia), it’s all super-stylish yet homely. Downstairs, a lively wine bar space serves walks-ins, showcasing ingredient-driven dishes: black truffle chilled foie gras, slow roasted pork collar with corn polenta and crispy pig ears, and an American wagyu beef dish with farm greens. Meanwhile, upstairs, a five-course tasting menu informed by global technique and flavour profiles re-imagines a variety of fine-dining stalwarts. Witness razor clam garganelli pasta with toasted kombu and herb breadcrumbs, Long Island fluke crudo with local citrus, and early spring rhubarb tart. It's all driven by heritage and seasonal Hudson Valley ingredients fresh from their upstate farm Rigor Hill – a burlap-bougie pantry powerhouse with many a celeb fan.
