Tippling Club

Playful. Progressive. Palate-pleasing. These adjectives describe both the kitchen and bar of this stalwart of the Singapore scene. Started in 2008 by chef Ryan Clift and Matthew Bax, this self-proclaimed ‘gastro-cocktail destination’ has been through over a decade of adventures including a big move to the center of town in late 2013. The bar is intimate and gives a guest close access to the knowledgeable team, headed up by Andy Loudon. Molecular gastronomy techniques can be found in the glass, along with myriad other methods, all with the end goal of delivering deliciousness.

The current menu, A Guide to Modern Drinking Vol II, was inspired by art and each of the 26 drinks pay tribute to a piece of modern art or its creator. Its six sections have something for everyone: Miro’s Ciphers & Constellations is a champagne based libation, Mondrian’s Victoria Boogie Woogie is more tiki style, and for some crazy fun, you can order a flight of the Vieux Carré, aged five ways. Or if you are feeling flush, go for Warhol’s $$$ which has Louis XIII Cognac and Champagne. Even teetotalers are catered for with a very interesting Mocktail menu, the citrusy La Gioconda or the gingery Light & Cloudy. Better line that stomach with some equally yummy snacks. Lamb Weston fries are a must order, as are the Charred Peppers.
